The CMS Contenido

CMS stands for “Content Management System”

But what does that mean? And what is Contenido?

Content management system

A modern website usually offers you the possibility to change or expand the content without any specialist knowledge. For this, it is usually enough to log on to a sub-page and get started. Changes in the text, new photos, another sub-page - everything is visible on the internet after a mouse click. As the name suggests, it is a system with which you can manage the content of your website.

In the course of the Internet's history, countless CMSs have been created, most of which can be downloaded free of charge and installed on the server. Which CMS is the most suitable also depends on what kind of website you want to run: a news portal, a webshop, a blog or a classic website with information about your company, association or practice.

The CMS Contenido

Our main focus is on classical websites like you would expect from associations, self-employed people, medium-sized companies or medical practices. In such cases Contenido is the ideal system. It is very secure, easy to learn how to use, and very easy for us to adapt to your individual needs. The system has been around since 2001 and has undergone constant development since then.

Advantages

Multilingualism: You can run your website in as many languages as you like at the same time. A language switch leads from an article in one language to a version of the article in another language. An example of this is the website of the Haus Heliand leisure centre. The CMS user interface is available in German and English, but can also be translated into other languages.

Multiple clients: In addition to your website, do you want an intranet or a separate website for one of your projects? This is all possible with one installation.

Permissions: Individual editors can be blocked from accessing areas of the site. For example, if you maintain the news, you will not be able to rewrite the imprint or use picture galleries.

Visitor rights: You can also assign rights to visitors to your website. Your data sheets or member lists are then only accessible to registered guests.

Full text search: This is also integrated. Visitors to your website can find all articles in which a certain search term appears.

Expandability: The system can be expanded without great effort. Individual areas (modules) can be easily added. If your site needs to access a complex database, you can also administer that in the system.

Examples:

Linkchecker: The internet is constantly on the move. Pages that you linked to at some point may no longer exist. The Linkchecker finds this out.

SEO: Everything a page needs to deliver to be high up in search engine results is provided by Contenido.

Mobile websites: Responsible websites work on screens of all sizes - no problem with Contenido, but a laptop or desktop computer is recommended for administering the pages.

The page structure

The articles of a website are usually subject to a certain order, which is represented by the main navigation. Articles that are visible here often have subpages, which may then have further subpages. This structure is shown in the system as a tree diagram and can also be changed there.

Articles

You fill the page structure with articles. Usually there are different templates for articles, e.g. because the start page is designed differently from the subpages. Within the article, areas are marked that you can fill with text or other content.

Images and downloads

The images you want to use in your articles must be made available on your server. For this purpose, there is a separate area where you can upload images in a folder structure. Files that you want to offer for download can also be made available here. In the editor you then have the option of including images or linking files.

The editor with which you enter your texts is structured like the word processor you use on your computer.

For each article you can determine whether it is currently online or offline. If it is not available, it will not appear in the navigation.

Newsletter

Contenido includes the possibility to send designed (HTML) newsletters and offers all the tools for professional communication with the clientele: a form for registration, confirmation e-mail, welcome e-mail for new members, personalised texts, recipient groups, test mailings, the obligatory link to unsubscribe ...

Exclusively with us!

Over the years, many extensions have been developed in numerous Contenido projects that are not otherwise included in the CMS. We will gladly put them to use for you!

WEBP images

In an effort to make images consume as little data volume as possible while maintaining the highest possible quality, Google has developed the WEBP format as an alternative to JPEG and PNG. If you want your website to appear in a good light on Google (for example, to appear as high up as possible in their search results), there is no way around WEBP in the long run. And now the good news: don't worry about it. Use any image format you like. We will make sure that your site displays WEBP images and everything will be done automatically.

Dynamic PDFs

If you want to automatically generate PDF files from the texts on your website or other content in your database, we'll be happy to do that for you too. Menus, price lists, membership directories? You can then offer these on your website as PDFs without having to worry about the details. The PDFs are created as soon as a visitor clicks on the corresponding link. With the data that is available at that time.

Sports club administration

Types of sport, sports facilities, trainers, practice dates - you can manage all this in one large overview. This data is then available on your website, sorted by day of the week, sports facility or type of sport. A correction in the system automatically updates all the information on your website.

Almanac from A to Z

Especially for extensive websites that convey a lot of knowledge, it can be helpful if the most important keywords are listed in alphabetical order - with a link to the corresponding article.

Dynamic location overview with GoogleMaps

For example, present your company locations on a large overview map. You can add, illustrate, label or remove locations as you wish. We have examples of this here and here.

We look forward to hearing from you!
