What are static websites?

Unlike a website based on a CMS, the content of a static website cannot be easily changed.

Advantages

Nevertheless, static websites have advantages:

• Lower set-up costs, all programming is eliminated.
• Lower hosting costs, usually the cheapest hosting package is sufficient.
• No maintenance costs: where no software goes out of date, no updates are required.
• Additional design options, as text volumes are predictable.
• All the features of modern websites possible at the same time: secure data transfer (https), search engine optimisation (SEO), usability on mobile devices.
• Even better protection against attacks by hackers

Static websites are ideal if the content of your website is unlikely to change or if you do not want to worry about content maintenance anyway.

Static websites are typically chosen if the project has only a few or no sub-pages, i.e. for so-called web business cards.
